When InVitae told me I got to photograph their lab, I was giddy! It's not often I get to be in a lab...like where science happens...and in this case where they are trying to solve some serious challenges like...oh, I don't know...DNA testing??? I mean...I get to sing silly songs to kids and go on hunts for the best light for adults at my job, but fine...go ahead and show off...they're building "the world's leading commercial database of clinically-relevant genetic information." Uhhh, yeah...I had to read that three times before it clicked (no pun to my career intended). Alas, we all have our role in this world and I am very happy-grateful-joyous that the role of photographer is mine! I headed down to their SoMa office and got to be a fly on the wall for their lab as well as take headshots of several employees.
Here is a snapshot of their website with some of the new headshots, followed by some of my favorite "sciency" photos from our shoot.
