My awesome mama started Dianne's Selections in 1989...when I was 11 years old and lived in Raleigh, NC. It started as a teeny-tiny business and has grown and grown while still maintaining a very personal feel. The store is geared toward women with breast cancer, servicing them with wigs, breast prostheses, mastectomy swimwear, mastectomy bras, and so much more. My sister Lindsay recently took over the business and my mom is finally ready to retire. I am so happy and proud of our family of entrepreneurs and it was my pleasure to do a photoshoot for them while I was in Raleigh this week. Not only do I want to show off my family's business, I also want to share a couple "behind-the-scenes" of the headshots I did for Lindsay. The store is in an office park that doesn't appear to have many picturesque headshot locations. I wanted to show you that it really does not take a lot of real estate to get great photos. I also didn't have either of my reflectors with me at our shoot, so I purchased foam core and used that as my fill light.
You can see on the left the location where we shot, then on the right the final product.
We then headed inside to capture images of the store itself and of my mom and sister together:
