I had the pleasure of capturing Emmy's newborn photos back in May of this year and she has been nothing short of perfect with each encounter. Her smiles light up the room and they go on for DAYS! My hubby was watching over my shoulder as I put the final touches on Emmy's gallery for her parents and he kept "oohing" and "ahhing" - not at my work but at how adorable and sweet Emmy looks! We hung at their home in San Francisco for Emmy's 7-month photos:
I photographed Ryland when he was in his mama's belly, then when he arrived into the world back in February. Eric + Michelle are the sweetest, cutest couple!! They are so relaxed, really acting more like second-time parents than first-time parents! We headed to the Presidio to document Ryland in all his baby-ness...gummy smiles, chubby legs, and overall cute factor that is hard to resist!
Mila and Anya...oh girls, you took my heart! It was an honor to photograph these girls for their first official photo session! They were champs and let us dress them, undress them (you know I can't resist baby rolls) and dress them again! Mom and Dad, you are doing an incredible job of juggling what seems like an impossible feat...my hat is off to you!

Lindsay is the THIRD child for this family and WOW - they are awesome and so full of energy!!! I loved meeting them and I think if I lived there, coffee would not even be necessary as the kids' energy is enough to keep you going-going-going! We met at their house for Lindsay's 6-month session...such a pleasure! They make having three kids look easy. A few of my favorites!
After photographing Shelby and Tuhin's first child, Nayana, throughout her first year...they then invited me to document their son Rohan! I honestly don't know how many shoots we have done together...but I know that we are working our way through San Francisco and finding every nook & cranny that is awesome in our lovely city. But for Rohan's 6-month session, Shelby had the great idea to gasp! leave the city for a shoot! So we went to the most beautiful place in San Francisco's back door...Sonoma!
Here are some of my favorites from our morning together. I loved every moment of this shoot. The location gave us a variety of backdrops, the weather was divine, and the kids loved being in nature!
Ohhhh girls. They are simply delicious!!! And include a tutu in there??? I melt. This family was so sweet to each other. Mom is smitten and Dad is in complete awe of all three of his girls...I enjoyed every minute!
Some favorites from our San Francisco home session!
Did you ever play a game called "Chubby Bunny" growing up? I witnessed it at various retreats when I was in middle school...participants put marshmallows in their mouths and try to say the words "Chubby Bunny" without completely exploding. Yes, it's rather gross (unless you're in middle school, then you think that type of humor is hilarious). But I digress. When I met Baby Ivy, the first words that came to my head were, "CHUBBY BUNNY!" I mean look at this adorable little girl!!! She has rolls for miles and eyelashes to match. Big sister Lila has curls that go on for days and when you put them side-by-side, they are showstoppers. We enjoyed a portion of their shoot at their house, then went to a nearby trail in Glen Park. Enjoy some of my favorites!
I knew once I saw Allison's "858" phone number that we'd get along juuuuuust fine. 858 is the San Diego area code, which is where Dave and I lived from 2002-2005 and is otherwise known as heaven! Allison and Stephen even took their wedding photos at Windansea Beach, which was a stone's throw from our apartment and was our go-to spot every weekend. Fast forward and they are now the proud parents of sweet baby George, now 7 months old. He was born just 1 day (and 3 years) after my son Cal, so I will forever remember George's birthday! We started at their home and then headed to Cavallo Point to enjoy the skyline and beautiful environment.
It was hard to narrow it down to just a few favorites, but here you go!
Ahhh, Piera. Remember her from her newborn shoot?? Yes, yes, yes...the cutie pie who slept like a champ, has the kindest, most relaxed parents a kiddo could ask for, and is now SEVEN MONTHS! Get ready, y'all. This first one is my favorite!!!
This is an all-star family. Mom is super-smiley and beautiful to boot...Dad is hands-on and always ready to laugh...and their twin daughters? Gorgeous. But let's back up a moment...we started last Fall when Christa + Paul had their maternity shoot at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco! We had a great time getting to know each other and documenting the one time Christa would be carrying two human beings in her body...such an unbelievably special time in their lives!
Fast forward and the girls, Georgia + Eleanor, are now 8 months old! And precious...did I mention precious? Get ready to melt, especially with their tutus!!
I did my first screencast demonstrating what goes on behind-the-scenes when I edit images, which you can see here.
Here are some highlights from our session together - can't wait to see them when they turn ONE this Fall!
Big Sister Genevieve welcomed Baby Brother Graham in January of this year. He is a chubby, smiley, happy little fella that is laid back and ready to roll with whatever life hands him (or whatever Big Sister hands him). This first image is one of my favorites from the session because it is so real for Genevieve's stage of life! She actually wasn't upset, but was definitely bummed that Mommy and I vetoed her choice of jewelry (one of those necklaces that only a 3-year-old could pick out for this day and this outfit!). She really was a rock star and was so patient throughout the shoot - at this age it's a total crap shoot! Here are some of my favorites, including "the one" that I personally would frame as an 18x24 in my home!
As promised, our third set of twins for one month are now on the blog! Alex + Tommy are 8-month-old identical twins and gave me a run for my money to tell them apart! I even had to color-coordinate the final images in my editing process so I made sure I represented both of them equally! Their parents are...well...not your typical first-time-parents. Maybe because they were thrown into parenthood with multiples, maybe just because their personalities are hilarious...either way, I enjoyed our sessions immensely! Congratulations, Laura + Paul...your sons are absolutely precious. I appreciate you entrusting me to document them during this fun stage!
It is SUCH a treat when I get to photograph twins, and I have had THREE sets within April/May...(6mos, 8mos and 2 years old)! These two mischief-makers are completely engaged in whatever big sister J is into. They were crawling all over the place, pulling up on anything they could find, and just on the move! As a mom, I told mama Tobee that I was exhausted just watching her orchestrate the girls...and especially with such ease!
Here are a few favorites from our session...can't wait to do it again when they turn 1!
Ella is already ONE! Actually, 15 months when we did our shoot and her personality is every bit of 15 months! She knows how to work a smile AND a stink-eye within a second of each other - hilarious! Fortunately for me, she gave me tons of laughs and smiles...every single one a gift as she is such a joy! Here is a walk down memory lane: Melissa + Dan's maternity session Ella's newborn session Ella's 6-month/7-month session
And now, we bring you her one year session!
From the moment I walked in the front door, I immediately felt the warmth radiate between Megha, Nirav and sweet Deven. Deven and my daughter Lily are just two weeks apart, so I missed the opportunity to photograph Deven as a newborn last summer but am so grateful to have had the chance to see him as a smiling, chubby baby! We were able to use their beautiful house as our canvas and I saw inspiration around every corner. Enjoy a few of my favorites!
This is my second time photographing this model-looking family and WOW they did not disappoint. I was in awe of mommy Lisa after meeting her when her now 2-yr-old Hannah was born and my admiration was not lessened this time with the birth of Hunter! Seriously...Lisa looks like a supermodel...yet acts like a supermommy...the total package! Enjoy a few of my favorites from our newborn session in their San Francisco home.

Yes, sweet little Jackson is now 7 months old! He is sitting up, chubby, smiling and quite the cutie-pie. Here is a glance back to his newborn session...it seems so long ago since he looks totally different! For his 7-month shoot, we started at Gina + James' house and then headed together to a very windy Crissy Field! We were hoping for pictures with the Golden Gate Bridge, but the weather had other plans for us that day. Fortunately for us, Jackson was easy-to-please and gave us smiles with any situation we threw his way...just a delight!
Yes, literally 2 minutes is what Lily gave me on today's shoot. I could take a screenshot of the image info just so you'd believe me, but I also have about 2 minutes for this blog post before one of my munchkins wakes up, so you'll have to take my word for it! The reason I'm posting is a few things: 1) It's Valentine's Day!! And I wanted to celebrate my little love bugs (though I only got one to participate in my 2-minute shoot). 2) I found this tutu that I received years ago from an Etsy shop named "Little Creek Boutique" (who no longer seems to be there, unfortunately, or I'd love to give them a shout-out). It's perfect for Lily and I was just dying to do a shoot with her in it! 3) Since this was such a fast one, I thought it would be a good opportunity to show you what you can do in just two minutes. When I photograph my own children, it's not like I have the luxury of a full shoot with them. I'm a mom, just like you, and they give me 30 second bursts (or, let's be realistic...10 second bursts) and I take what I can get! In this case, Lily gave me these two minutes and I am grateful for it.
So here are the results and I'm also including a pull-back photo from behind-the-scenes.
For the backdrop, I used a seamless white paper that I cut into a size that would fit in my living room, but you could try butcher paper or even an ironed bedsheet (but who has time to iron a bedsheet??). You don't need a fancy backdrop stand...you can definitely just tape the paper / sheet / whatever to your dining room chairs. Again, this is quick'n'dirty so I don't want you to get too picky.
For the "decor" (and I can barely use that word, even in quotations, with a straight face), my friend Mary helped me draw hearts while the kids were playing (read: drooling all over something nearby) and then I found that they were too light in the background so I quickly filled them in with markers. If I planned this more, I would recommend using a thick red paint that could really be bold in the background. But...this did the trick for today.
Yes, Lily is my very own babygirl... She turns 6 months next week and I just want to eat her up! I am of course completely unbiased, but she is such an easy baby that I can't help but boast as to how adorable, smiley, happy, wonderful she is. Every chubby inch of her!
You may remember Sadie from her newborn (and maternity!) sessions earlier this year. In short, she has been a doll since day one and now is a chubby, curious, adorable 7-month-old. We took her to Lover's Lane in the Presidio on one of San Francisco's unusually warm mornings which meant we got to photograph her in just her diaper without her catching frostbite!! Some of my favorites from our morning:
