Shaving it Off on August 21st!

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
— The Lorax

This is happening!  I can't believe I'm saying "yes" to this, but The Lorax nailed it on the head (ba-dum-bum...get it? head?) and this is my time to step up and be the change.

My sister, Lindsay, said yes first and I have been noodling on it for a couple months...and this week I knew I had to say yes, too. Two women, 40 and 42 years old, both fortunate as hell to lead the lives we do, will shave our heads on August 21st in order to raise money for pediatric cancer research.

Did you know that 1 in 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer? And that only 4% of federal government cancer research funding goes to study pediatric cancer? St. Baldrick's Foundation mission is to fill the gap...to raise money for research that will put an end to pediatric cancer.

So I am coming to you...my people...my community. I said yes because I am looking at my two kids and I'm filled with total gratitude for their health and total sadness for parents who aren't as fortunate as I am today. And I ask you to do the same. Look at your children's eyes and then join me on this journey - not necessarily in shaving your head - but in sharing your wallets.

I've set a lofty goal. $15,000 by August 21st. You can read all about my why and see my brief video here:
