Danielle and I had our first kiddos around the same time. Cooper is now 3 1/2 and is ready to become a big brother any day now! I am thrilled and honored to be able to capture their First Year for them, starting with a family maternity shoot at Land's End and China Beach! Congratulations, Danielle, Dave + Cooper...I can't wait to meet Baby Girl in a week!
I knew I clicked with Adina & Brian the moment I saw that Brian was a PRO at laughing at himself (can we talk about his dance moves??)! His official job at the maternity shoot was to make Adina giggle and he did a fabulous job! We went to Land's End to celebrate their last few weeks as a family of two before their baby arrives and they are parents! Here are some favorite photos from our Sutro Baths walk.
Christa + Paul are expecting TWIN GIRLS this fall!! They are one of those couples who you meet and within a few minutes you feel like you are besties from way-back-when. They are easy-going and can easily make light of just about any situation - a pleasure to photograph! You'll be seeing lots more of Christa + Paul (plus their two little ones) as the year progresses...so excited to document their 1st Year as parents!
Some of my faves from our Palace of Fine Arts session:
I met Rachel through a dear friend that I grew up with in North Carolina. They went to Northwestern together and, good peeps that they were, set us up to meet here in San Francisco. Rachel is one of the owners of the ridiculously adorable organic baby boutique, Sprout, on Union Street (and also in NYC and Chicago). She is also mama to cutie-pie Cooper, who steals your heart with one smile! We headed to one of my favorite SF locations, Lover's Lane in the Presidio, to take family photos of Rachel + Mike + Cooper before Baby #2 arrives in just a few weeks. As you can see, the camera loved both Rachel AND her bump!
I met Mama Emily at the Birth & Baby Fair last fall. She and hubby Jeff decided to have me capture their daughter's first year, starting with maternity pictures!
Sadie was born in February and was a dream at our shoot! She is just precious and her mom and dad are enamored by her which just makes it all the better. I can't wait to watch her grow over the next year!
I met Carolyn five years ago when I was loving my marketing job at Symantec. I was shooting on the weekends in my spare time and enjoying my dual-life (note: this was pre-kids...there is no such thing as "free time" with kids!). Carolyn and her fabulously adorable hubby Todd are doing a First Year Package with me. As you know, I love the First Year Package because I really, really get to know a couple. It's even more special when we get to start with the maternity session (when their lives are about to change in ways they never thought possible...and nobody can prepare them for...no matter how much wonderful advice everyone likes to dish out). I have so many images I want to share, I'm just going to dive in. We started at Buena Vista Park for their maternity session. They are San Francisco Giants fans, so we integrated a few pieces into their shoot as well as a whale theme they have going for Baby Tyler's room. I wish you could see the full mural they have on his nursery room wall - incredible!!!
Enjoy...and welcome to parenthood!
How cute are these two??? They are now parents, but I had the opportunity to capture their last few "official" (i.e. paparazzi-infused) moments as a couple...just them. Those last few weeks before a first baby is born are absolutely precious. It's that time when you are balancing the (somewhat annoying, but coming from a very good place) bombardment of suggestions, suggestions, suggestions...while also trying to remain as comfortable as possible...while also (if you're me) wondering what in the world you're about to get into...and while also trying to cherish your wonderful partner in these last moments of being just the two of you. And this is why I love maternity sessions and why I think they are important for my clients. Erica + Seth recently moved to San Francisco and specifically had Baker Beach in mind for our shoot. Keep in mind that when I do family shoots there, we start at sunrise (currently around 8:00am). When you're a parent of a little one, that is already two hours into your "work day"...when you're expecting your first child, that is just crazy-talk on a weekend morning. Nonetheless, Erica + Seth were game for our early-morning start and ROCKED our maternity shoot!
Congratulations on your new addition, Erica + Seth. Ben is one lucky baby!
I am so excited that I get to follow and get to know Phoebe + Sean over the next year of their little one's life! The due date will be here before we know it (just after Valentine's Day!) and I can't wait to photograph their new son. For maternity photos, we wanted to capture something "San Francisco" with a beach and also something that was more private. We headed over to the Golden Gate Bridge on the Marina Green/Crissy Field area to get some beach shots, then went to my fave (Lover's Lane) for our more private/let loose photos!
Sean was a natural in front of the camera, but let's be honest - it's the WOMAN who has the pressure to shine-shine-shine! Phoebe rocked it and you'd think she had paparazzi around all the time. Sean did a great job of making her laugh so we could get her natural, beautiful smile. This baby boy is going to be very lucky to have two incredible parents awaiting him!!
Y'all know I love me some Lover's Lane in the Presidio. It's quiet, it's deserted, the lighting is romantic...and then you add Jaime + Jess and the scene becomes drop-dead-gorgeous. Jaime was 37 weeks pregnant when we did this shoot. Yes, thirty-seven. She shouldn't be allowed to look this good, but that's Jaime! Jaime was our neighbor when we lived in San Diego back-in-the-day, and we followed her up to San Francisco (okay, she and my hubby both desperately wanted to move here and I was the big hold-out...shame on me as we've never looked back!). She met Jess a few years ago here in SF and to say they are the perfect match would be a complete understatement. She is the yin to his yang, as they say. Aside from being a gorgeous couple (what is it with the people I shoot - they are all straight out of magazine ads!), they are some of the sweetest, most thoughtful people you will ever meet. They are the kind of people that, if we ever got in a bind, we would call them and they'd already be at our side to help before we hang up the phone.
They welcomed Baby Anna into the world last week and we couldn't be happier to welcome them into our world of parenthood. We love you, Jaime + Jess!
Melissa + Dan are expecting a baby girl in December! I have known Melissa for a few years, but you never really know someone until you're in their house...with their spouse...seeing them in their element. Let me tell you...Melissa + Dan may secretly do photo shoots for a living and just not tell anyone. They were so natural and easy-going, it made our shoot a ton of fun and I am so thrilled with the results! Congratulations, Melissa + Dan...I can't wait to meet Baby Ella next month!
L-O-V-E. As you can imagine, I see a lot of couples. The good, the bad, the ugly...the happiness, the stress, the juggling...I see it all! Nicole + Bill were so ridiculously cute, I couldn't get enough of them! They are so incredibly in good ol' fashioned l-o-v-e, it was refreshing for me to see! They are expecting baby Stella any day now and I can't wait to meet her and take her newborn photos! We did their maternity session at Baker Beach and they were open-minded to any and all ideas - it was such a blast!
Congratulations, Nicole+Bill! Now come on, Baby Stella!!! It's TIME, isn't it??
Baker Beach, Baby! This particular maternity session was personal to me because Kristy is a friend of mine and her sister went to college with me (go BC!). Kristy's BROTHER contacted me to give her the session as a baby gift from the siblings (really?? what kind of brother actually goes to this effort?? I was so impressed) and I was honored to capture them at this stage! Kristy is expecting any day now so I'm thrilled to share these photos before she is officially a mama!
As I type this, Alexis + Todd have already become parents to a beautiful little girl! We did Marisa's newborn shoot last week, but first things first! We did a maternity shoot at Baker Beach a few weeks ago and I'm so happy we were able to capture this time before Baby Marissa arrived! I had never been to Baker Beach before, much less shot there. I went the day prior to get the lay of the land and was so happy with all of the location options...the toughest part was deciding where to shoot without requesting my pregnant mamas-to-be (I had three maternity shoots in one morning at Baker Beach!) to climb-climb-climb!
Thanks for being such incredible troopers, Alexis + Todd...and congratulations on Marissa!
Get ready for a major dose of cuteness. Though this was technically Julie's maternity shoot as the family prepares for baby #2 to arrive, we took the opportunity to capture these last moments of the family of three including super-cute Campbell! We headed to Land's End and the Sutro Baths and explored! The great news is I am photographing baby #2's entire first year, so we'll get to shoot his/her newborn photos in a few weeks, then at 6 months, then celebrate the 1st birthday! I love-love-love when I get to follow a family and watch them grow!
And seriously....can we comment on her skinny jeans??? I LOVE this first photo.
Matt + Caitlin are quite possibly the best neighbors (no offense to other fab neighbors we've had in our 10 residences in the last 10 years)....they are adorable, sweet, thoughtful...and they babysit. Did I mention they babysit? Yep, a mama's favorite gift (or at least this mama's favorite gift), given by fabulous people who aren't yet parents but "get it". And that is all about to change...not them "getting it" but that they are about to be PARENTS! Matt + Caitlin (they are a duo...and I really do believe they are BOTH having this baby as Matt is a super-involved and supportive daddy-to-be) are due at the end of December and we can't wait to have a new baby around! It is a b-o-y and my son Cal will have a playmate soon enough. We went to Lafayette Park and took some fun maternity pictures of Caitlin's bump before Baby arrives.
So excited for you, Caitlin + Matt! xo
How these two stumbled into my world is beyond me as I am reminded that I have the best clients on Earth! Ali + Travis are about to be parents. As in, 7 weeks to go and they are going to be forever known as "MomAndDad" in a run-on sentence. I am THRILLED that I get to capture the entire first year of their parenthood once Baby Abigail arrives. We did their first shoot at the Ferry Building, headed down to the Bow and Arrow, then back to the Ferry Building. I am SO excited to share these photos as they were model clients (not only because they are both easy-on-the-eyes, but they are just fabulous, fun people to hang out with!).
Travis, officially on record as the most awesome-male-client-of-all-time (note: typically, I find that my male clients show up begrudgingly and don't actually enjoy the experience until after the shoot and they realize it was fun and they love their photos!), came uber-prepared with a super-fun shot list of ideas that would help capture their maternity session in such a personal way. I was so touched at his thoughtfulness...not for my sake, but as such an adorable and supportive hubby!
Side note: Ali also writes an awesome blog called 7x7xMommy that is cute and fun - definitely check it out.
Here's to you, Ali + Travis...you are going to make incredible parents and I can't wait to meet Abigail in 2011!
Kim + Alex are just TWO WEEKS AWAY from their due date!!! They are expecting a little boy and I can't wait to meet him and take his newborn photos! I went to their house last week to capture these last moments before the baby is here...they are r-e-a-d-y! I love it when I get to do a maternity shoot before the baby is here...it's such a great opportunity to get to know the couple BEFORE being parents (because we all know, everything changes!). Kim was such a trooper and let me do absolutely anything - she looks absolutely stunning!
Tricia + Josh are expecting their first bundle'o'joy in early 2011, so I was thrilled to hear that she wanted me to take her maternity photos! We did the photos in their home for more of a romantic, sweet feel...the kimono Tricia wore is my favorite (well, alongside the ones of her and Josh smooching in their backyard!).
