You may recall Ella's newborn shoot from the beginning of this year...and she is already ready for her "baby" shoot! We broke Ella's shoot into two dates, which ended up working out great and we got to go back to the park where we did Dan + Melissa's Maternity Shoot last fall. Ella is giggly, smiley, googly and everything you want for your 7-month-old! I learned she is not (yet) a nature girl (the only time she complained was when she was on the grass or bark directly...Miss Diva insisted on a blanket for her perfect skin which I found HILARIOUS!). Soooo cute!
Baby Ava is already a few months old now, but I am finally catching up on the blog and couldn't resist posting a few of this dreamy little girl. And when I say "dreamy", not only is she crazy-beautiful, but she slept for our session. Like, the entire session. Did I mention dreamy? Yes. Perfect. Mama Linda is one of those people that you can't help but watch when she walks in a room because she's drop-dead-gorgeous. Then, she opens her mouth and this lovely British accent pours out - and it turns out she is thoughtful, brilliant and hilarious...all in one package. I met Linda just over 5 years ago and am so honored to document Baby Ava's first year for her and hubby AJ!
And now...sit back and just enjoy their cute-ness.
Baby Ella arrived just before Christmas (she was due after Christmas but apparently didn't want to be upstaged by Santa) and wow...she is a beauty! After photographing Melissa + Dan's maternity session in October, I wasn't sure they could get any cuter. I am the first to admit - I was wrong! They are so deeply, fully, completely in love with Baby Ella...it is absolutely precious. Here are some of my favorites from our newborn photography session at their house in San Jose...
I have known Gina and her amazing family for the last five years, since moving to San Francisco. We worked together at Symantec when I was doing the 9-5'er and shooting on weekends, and she has helped encourage me and my business every step of the way. I have taken a few snapshots of her kiddos, but we've never done a "real shoot" where we actually plan outfits, plan locations and - gasp - get her awesome hubby involved too! We decided we'd start at their newly-built home in Los Gatos (her hubby Dan is seriously off-the-chains talented - company is DJB Construction and their house belongs in Architectural Digest), then head to a local park where we could let the kids run around and be kids. Let me start by saying I've never seen a brother-sister combo like Jake and Stella. As in...never. Parents, if your kids are an iota like them, please, please stop reading this and start thanking your lucky stars. They were ridiculously cute together - Jake (older brother) trying to impress Stella, and Stella hanging on to his...every...word. If Jake jumps on the bed, Stella jumps on the bed...if Jake climbs in the tub, guess who is his shadow scrambling in beside him? And the best parts?? They hug...they laugh...they hold hands - it's this crazy concept that they actually like each other!! I couldn't get enough of them.
Oh, and the parents? Not too shabby either. Aside from them being unfairly (okay, it's not a word...but you know what I mean) good looking, they live for their kids. As Gina says, "come Friday at 5:00, they own me"!
So enough mush about this wonderful family. Thank you, Boyd Family, for letting me walk into your lives and capture your precious little-big kids.
Melissa + Dan are expecting a baby girl in December! I have known Melissa for a few years, but you never really know someone until you're in their house...with their spouse...seeing them in their element. Let me tell you...Melissa + Dan may secretly do photo shoots for a living and just not tell anyone. They were so natural and easy-going, it made our shoot a ton of fun and I am so thrilled with the results! Congratulations, Melissa + Dan...I can't wait to meet Baby Ella next month!
How could I not immediately fall in love with a baby who shares my name?? Brooke was super-accommodating to all of my zany ideas for our session (well, except for the tutu...everyone has their limits, right?), including using my new well bucket from eBay (you truly can find ANYTHING on eBay!). We hung at the house in San Jose and used their gorgeous backyard for most of the session. It was a typical sunny, gorgeous South Bay day! I am dying to see this first image as a square canvas...I just love Brooke's expression!
